Big Dance commissions acclaimed choreographers to create works that can be learnt by anyone in the world, through online tutorials and community workshops. Big Dance engages thousands of people with one unifying choreographic piece, performed in some of the most iconic places in the world.

Canberra launched National Dance Week with a performance of Big Dance at the National Portrait Gallery. Dance week in Canberra included week-long classes and performance for all ages and abilities.

Sydney celebrated International Dance Day performing Big Dance alongside the events in Victoria. Held at Cathedral Square, Sydney-siders experienced live performance by Christine Anu and a screening of Big Dance film shorts.

No stranger to Big Dance, Tracks Dance Company led Big Dance in Darwin on International Dance Day in a car park in Darwin CBD. The group performed the red group’s routine.

SA, Adelaide: Panpapanpalya - Joint Dance Congress 2018
Over 800 Australian and international delegates at Panpapanpalya 2018 learnt the Big Dance throughout the week of the congress and joined in the performance at the Closing event. Some international delegates took the dance back to their countries and taught their communities.

Hosted by MC Yung Philly, Melbourne celebrated International Dance Day with Big Dance and performances by Indigenous Hip Hop project, e.motion21, Shiamak Melbourne and Origins Dance Company. The afternoon included a live feed cross between Sydney’s Big Dance event.

In partnership with the Regional Centre for Culture 2018 (RCC 2018), Ausdance Vic took Big Dance to Castlemaine with free workshops around Greater Bendigo and Central Goldfields. The local community in Castlemaine joined the Big Dance celebration at Victory Park on International Dance Day.
